Mark Boatman

Mark Boatman is a seasoned professional with over 35 years of drumming experience. Mr. Boatman grew up in Dallas Texas U.S.A. and started playing in pop and R&B bands at the age of 15. He later played in jazz and funk oriented bands, performing the music of various groups including Chicago , Blood Sweat and Tears and Tower of Power . In the early 80's, he was a member of the University of Texas at Dallas Jazz Band. Throughout the 80's and 90's Mr. Boatman performed with several bands in the Dallas area where he honed his drumming skills in the areas of pop, rock, country, jazz and funk. Mr. Boatman moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1998 where he began playing with Chicago style blues bands as well as small jazz groups performing for private functions and at nightclubs throughout the Bay Area.

Mr. Boatman moved to Singapore in 2004 and has become well known for his excellent drumming skills. He has performed with many bands and artistes in Singapore including: the house band at Jazz@SouthBridge, The Cromozone Band at Harry's Bar Boat Quay and The Blues Machine Band at The Crazy Elephant Bar Clarke Quay, Noted regional artists he has performed with include vocalists: Claressa Monteiro, Rani Singham, Amanda Jantzen, Anne Weerapass; pianists: Jeremy Monteiro, Mei Sheum , Mario Serio, Aya Sekine, Don Gomez and Chris Robinson. Bassists: Ignatius Bong, Marcus Dengate, Joshua Wan, Christy Smith and William Gathright. Saxophonists: Fabian Lim, Steven Rufus and Nicole Duffell. Mr. Boatman studied rudimental snare drum and drumset with members of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and the faculty at the University of North Texas . More recently, Mr. Boatman has consulted with various professional drummers in the San Francisco Bay Area and Singapore to enhance his jazz and Latin drumming skills.

Mr. Boatman is a conscientious professional who is easy to work with. He is a musical and versatile drummer with a strong groove and plenty of technical abilities. In short, he knows how to make music when seated behind a drumset.
